Aligning... 0.99999999998%

I know every word in the bible is God-breathed... and one verse is just as important as another... but I do have a favourite verse and I believe many of my friends already know which verse that is!

Philippians 4:13
"I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me"

For the past week or so, I have been going through Daniel for my daily devotions with the help of a book that provides commentary alongside the verses.

During yesterday's morning devotion, I took notice of a verse (Philippians 4:12) that was mentioned by the commentator to describe Daniel's response to the various situations he has been placed in.

Philippians 4:12
"I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need."

I have always been encouraged by Philippians 4:13 but never stopped to ponder over Philippians 4: 12. The commentator was trying to get across the point that Daniel was able to be content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

Daniel never hesistated to praise the Lord when he was blessed with favour from the King, giving recognition to God for granting him wisdom to interpret the King's dreams.

Daniel 2: 20
"... Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his..."

Daniel 2: 30
"...But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living, but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart..."

In addition, as the book continues, Daniel rose to the occasions by continuing to place his confidence in the Lord despite being in dire states such as when he was thrown into the lion's den.

Likewise, I pray to God that I too, will be able to follow the example of Daniel and trust in the Lord with all my heart despite of the diverse situations I have been placed in or will be placed in the future.

Amen! =)
