LEARNING TO PLACE :

GOD'S INTERESTS ABOVE ALL

BEST INTERESTS OF LOVED ONES BEFORE SELF

Philippians 2: 1-4
Imitating Christ's Humility
1If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,

2
then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.

3
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

4Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

~Well rested! Physically and spiritually...~

Actually, I think I was burnt out on Thursday night! I was tasked to complete some research for my project in preparation for a project group meeting the following day which was a Friday. However, I went for Varsity Christian Fellowship and made a "touch-down" at my doorstep at approximately 11pm. Torn between getting straight on with my research or taking a short nap, I eventually fell prey to the latter...

x_X

*Alarm rings once*

I "snooze-d" it... Rings again... snooze... *again again - says Teletubbies*... snooze snooze... I've had IT!

Goes straight for the Off button - Ok... Not exactly straight considering I was in some sorta slumber!

That was it... I ended up having only 1 short hour to do my research before I had to leave "Ulu Punggol" and head for school. I really have to thank God excellent group members who prepared well enough thus leading to a fruitful arranged consultation session with our teaching assistant.

After my lecture, I met up with Cynthia and we went to the career fair. I felt out of place, and probably ought to feel out of place! I was only a year 1 student and most students who went to the fair were graduating students. However, I managed to get an overview of the current job market and was assured that what I'm studying does open job opportunities - at least for now.

This week's the E-learning week for the Communications and New Media department so all the lectures were webcasted and some tutorials were actually conducted via a online forum. On Friday, I had to post at least 1 comment on the forum by 2359 to somewhat prove my "attendance". After dinner, I was struggling to think of what to post and before I knew it... it was time to go to Carmen's house for home fellowship. I had around 5 more hours before the online forum closes! I worked on the comment using Cynthia's laptop during the journey to Carmen's house. Pastor and Auntie Jane came to pick us up from NUS! Had a great time of fellowship learning from Deacon Choon Yee about experiencing joy in our lives during home fellowship.

Happiness - Arises from circumstances... often temporal

Joy - Source drawn from God... should be rooted permanently in a Christian's life... transcends beyond trials and tribulations...

I finally managed to post my comment after home fellowship! *Hurray*

*Full zonk-out* after I've reached home! Had a long snugly sleep....

~~ Memories continues Saturday morning @ 10am. Location: Sofa bed...

After a good night's rest, time for a good morning's work out! I went for an 1/2 hr run around the estate and wanted to PLAY BASKETBALL but... I was too lazy. =X How on earth can I grow taller like that? Someone please provide me with a feasible and short solution to my "short" problem.

*picks up phone to call Yao Ming* "Hello, I demand you lend me some height...."

Beep.
Beep..
Beep...

Line goes dead...

ANYWAYS... after the run, I then went on to burn a dvd for a certain someone. So upset it didn't work on the actual CD!! *RARRRRHHH* But it's ok... hopefully it works fine this time round!

Then came Youth Fellowship! I had a great time learning a little something new about my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. I certainly hope we'll get to know one another better and become better accountability partners to each other! =)

We also learnt about dealing with spiritual boredom during Youth Fellowship.

Main causes:
1) Over indulgance
2) Under-exertion/ Under-commitment

Possible solutions
1) Contentment
2) Diligence
3) Growth
4) Be somebody new
5) Build relationships

Just a brief sum up!

Went for dinner and after dinner, had a GREAT time of fellowship with brother Ian! We went to Kinokuniya and I bought a 3-book bundle. Came across this author when I was in Popular bookshop with my JC classmate.... *drum rolls*... Mr Malaysia aka Zesin. The author is Jodi Picoult and this is a picture of the bundle I purchased.

YUPS. Updates end here! I'm certainly looking forward to meeting a new friend (Carmen's friend) by the name of Nigel tomorrow morning. Hope we'll have a blessed time together learning from God's word and of course worshiping Him in spirit and in truth!

Till next the next post.... Bye for now~

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 (New International Version)

16Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? 17If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God’s temple is sacred, and you are that temple.”

It’s high time to get into SHAPE!

Physically. Mentally. Spiritually.

Getting into shape is no simple task, having to take into consideration factors such as the motivation behind it or even the whole process of going through. Of course, after withstanding all the beatings and batting in achieving these tasks, ultimately… it also boils down to getting into the RIGHT shape. One could argue, “Round’s a shape!” But it’s the last shape I would want to achieve physically, or remain in for that matter, albeit it’s a shape.

The importance of gleaning knowledge from His word everyday is indispensable to every Christian life. But when it gets down to real work, we are really all works in progress, far cry from being complete. However, there’s only one motivation to work towards despite our incapability. The assurance and fact that that the only way to be complete is through Him.

John 14:6 (New International Version)

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

It’s high time.

We don’t exactly have much time.

There is an urgent need to get into shape amidst of all other things. I can feel the tensions of the everyday life, but am I just chasing the wind, being tossed by the seas of life like a child? The tensions can be felt, but this is likened to the wind, we can feel it… but ultimately it’s intangible and temporal!

We have to remind ourselves that what we really need is to press on solely towards the real goal of leading a transformed Christian life -- a need to not only just glean knowledge from the Word of God, but going beyond from being just listeners to being a doers of His word.

Let’s look upon the Lord Jesus Christ to be the “shape” we want to mould ourselves into.

Amen!

-_-

Pretty much sums up my facial expressions lately!

This semester has been and will continue to be a mad rush.

The whole of January was peppered with driving lessons in preparation for my driving test which... *ahemz* i failed... it's ok... *cries* thank God for safer roads! =P

The Chinese New Year season was gr8... thank God for the wonderful weather He has blessed us with. Truly treasured the time spent with relatives and loved ones!

I'll just highlight a few places I went for visitation

- My to-be brother-in-law's home @ Bukit Panjang
- My cousin's BEAUTIFUL new home (Situated 1 road away from his old home)
- Pastor's home

Sighs, though I thoroughly enjoyed the long weekend... I have to admit there are some drawbacks! My schoolwork has accumulated around the height of Bukit Timah Hill... it'll reach the height of Mount Everest if I don't do something real soon... Or am I making a mountain out of a molehill? Haha, no joke! Extremely busy week for me!

But it's a good reminder to rejoice in the Lord always! =)

Will take this time to get to know the Lord better and also prepare for worship leading this coming Sunday. Alright... gotta go off... do my readings... and prepare for my tutorial which happens to be in around 8 hrs time... x_X Pray for me...
