A beautiful... poem (I believe)... by Maya Angelou....

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on..

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say.... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say.... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow!

I've been using the daily bread for devotion these few days and I've been very encouraged by God's word through the short sharings!

2 Timothy 2: 3-4

"Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affiars of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier."

Let's continue to be good soldiers who strive for God's namesake despite the humps and bumps in our lives! Trials and tribulations are opportunities for our characters to be tested and for us to be moulded into Christlikesness. God's promises to us never faileth, so we can be assured that we will not be tested beyond what we can take. Brothers and sister in Christ, let us all pick up and carry our own crosses as we run the Christian race in a Christ-like manner. When we are weary and tired, let us lay our budens upon Him and seek Him for peace and rest, for He will give us victory in His time as we trust and obey.

Quoted from Hudson Taylor

Our heavenly Father is a very experienced One. He knows very well that His children wake up with a good appetite every morning. . . . He sustained 3 million Israelites in the wilderness for 40 years. We do not expect He will send 3 million missionaries to China; but if He did, He would have ample means to sustain them all...

Depend on it, God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s supply

To all who are facing certain sins in their lives that refuse to budge,

I happen to come across this verse yesteday before leaving home for school and it deeply encouraged me.

Luke 15: 10
"Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth."

This morning, upon completion of my portion of a school project, I flipped open the bible and decided to read through the chapter to understand the context of this verse. I have came across this passage several times and believe it is a familiar passage to all. However, it never struck me that hard as compared to the previous times I've read it. It was probably a signal to me that I was desperately in need of His divine wisdom to be encouraged and to be spurred on to oversome certain issues in my life.

Luke 15:1-10 (King James Version)

1Then drew near unto him all the publicans and sinners for to hear him.

2And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners, and eateth with them.

3And he spake this parable unto them, saying,

4What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?

5And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

6And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.

7I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

8Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?

9And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.

10Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

There are many struggles and/ or sins that I often find resurfacing in my life, and I begin to doubt if I can actually completely root them out. I usually choose to simply dust/ shrug them off my shoulders.. and not before long, realizing they are still there... weighing me down as burdens on my shoulders!!

More often than not, there are common conditions where these persistent issues will tend to re-surface...

... in times of stress...
... in times when I am distant from God!
(Not that He left... but the exact opposite where I have not set aside time seeking Him for wisdom and allowing His word to be a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path)

Am I doubting God's promise that He will not allow me to be tempted beyond what I can bear (1 Corinthians 10:13)?

or

Am I over-reliant on my own strength to solve these problems?

These are common questions that repeatedly return to me.

From this passage, let us be encouraged, and realize that we can't possible give up so easily!

This is especially so when we have a team behind us, a whole host of angels cheering us on, rejoicing in heaven as we repent of our sins and return to Him. Let's do our part to live a righteous and upright life as put our faith and trust in God as He delivers us from our sins.

Amen! =)

Even if My Heart Would Break"
Aaron Neville with Kenny G

I've been around this world
I've been a lot of places
Seen a million faces
In a thousand towns
But when I looked into your eyes
I knew I found Heaven
And I've been wantin' to tell you
I never wanna let you go

It may be winter heat on
But what I'm feeling is summer in my heart

(Chorus)
Is it too familiar to say "I love you"
Would you be suspicious if I asked your name
Tell me, what would it take
to really convince you
that I'm gonna love you
even if my heart would break

I see a better day
I can feel it coming
I can hear it calling
in the winter night
Could you turn this man
into a true believer
when you left your traces
on that moonlit night

It may be winter heat on
But when I'm with you, with you
It's summer in my heart

(Repeat chorus)

*Kenny G sax solo*

It may be winter heat on
But when I'm with you, with you
It's always summer in my heart

So let the mountains tumble
Tumble to the sea
Let the rivers overflow
It won't bother me
Let the stars go out tonight
Cuz I can see them in your eyes
And I wanna love you
even if my heart would break
(Even if my heart would break)

(Repeat chorus)

Even if my heart would break
I'm gonna love you
Even if my heart would break
I'm gonna love you
Let the stars go out tonight
Cuz I can see them in your eyes
And I'm gonna love you
even if my heart would break

(Even if my heart would break)
(Even if my heart would break)
(Even if my heart would break)
Yeah, yeah
(Even if my heart would break)
I'm gonna love you
Even if my heaaarrrt would break
(Even if my heart would break)
(Even if my heart would break)

Kudos to Candy for introducing this video clip to me!

It's a heartwarming advertisement launched by MCYS that considers the importance of imperfections in a relationship.

After watching the video clip, I sent an email to a dear friend... sharing with her how I was reminded of a verse.

2 Corinthians 12:9a
"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness"

With Christ, a strong and beautiful relationship with God exists despite our inadequacies and imperfections... because His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses!!

Enjoy~ =P

Beautiful Sunday - Daniel Boone

Sunday morning, up with the lark
I think I'll take a walk in the park
Hey, hey, hey, it's a beautiful day

I've got someone waiting for me
When I see her I know that she'll say
Hey, hey, hey, it's a beautiful day

Hi, hi, hi, beautiful Sunday
This is my, my, my, beautiful day
When you say, say, say, say that you love me
Oh, my, my, my it's a beautiful day

Birds are singing, you by my side
Let's take a car and go for a ride
Hey, hey, hey, it's a beautiful day
We'll drive on and follow the sun
Makin' Sunday go on and on
Hey, hey, hey, it's a beautiful day

Hi, hi, hi, beautiful Sunday
This is my, my, my, beautiful day
When you say, say, say, say that you love me
Oh, my, my, my, it's a beautiful day

Hi, hi, hi, beautiful Sunday
This is my, my, my, beautiful day
When you say, say, say, say that you love me
Oh, my, my, my it's a beautiful day

Greetings... Haha... In a period of immense stress, it's always good to keep our chins up and look to God for strength! So... bringing to you...

Strength for the Journey
(from RBC ministries)

(Note: There are daily sharings as well as weekly sharings, both of which are archived. The weekly sharings are lengthier and you are required to download an audio file to listen to the entire sermon.)

This is a podcast I subscibe and often listen to on my long journeys to school and back home from school. I really like enjoy the way how the preacher, Joe Stowell, shares the message by starting with his own personal experiences. I've been touched many a times by how meek he is and more importantly, for a leader to serve with a servant's heart.

So, for those who are interested, do use it as a devotional tool and dig into God's word. =)
