Aligning... 0.9999999999996%

Hey all!

Do check out today's Life section page C4! It featured a really touching and inspirational story which I personally feel brought across a spiritual lesson.

It is a good reminder to live our life to the fullest, just as Dr. William Tan works towards doing.. not merely doing, mind you, but doing with all his will and and all his might.

Where was this immense strength drawn from? For whom was he living for?

From what I have gathered from the article, I personally feel that having to pit all his strength against this illness day after day has been a humbling spiritual lesson for him. This was not explicitly stated in the article, but it seems to be the message I have received as a reader. There are people around living each day to their fullest despite of the harsh circumstances they are in, not knowing when today will be their last.

The point to note, I feel, is the importance of knowing the reason for living live to the fullest, and for whom we are living it for? I suggest that the best way to live our lives to the fullest is to present ourselves as a living sacrifice to God each and every day of our lives.

God has granted us a wonderful resource - time. But time and time again have I taken it for granted, like sand slipping through my fingers. It is utterly meaningless to live life with a me-centered attitude, for in Genesis 3:19 is was mentioned,

"In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."

My favorite line in the article was in Dr William Tan's reply and I quote, "The illness humbled me."

There are many things in life that we hold fast to, that makes us feel proud to own. But these things, in actual fact, are really borrowed and not ours at all.

His illness humbled him. What does it take for us to be humbled to do His will?

Time to reflect and time to live time by its minutes and seconds - not for our own, but for God's glory!
