Hello all! Finally, some words from me instead of just a YouTube video. However, I will still be showing a YouTube video after saying a few words.

For my module, it requires me to do a weekly blogging activity with regards to what we've learnt during class. This blog gives us an opportunity to share our thoughts through collaborative and collective efforts. All of the students' websites will be listed and open for others to view and see. For my recent blog post, I shared a YouTube video and used it as an example in application for what I've learnt during lecture.

Synopsis: This is the story of Dick & Rick Hoyt, the most inspirational father and son team to race in an Ironman race. It reflects a stunning testimony of the love of a father to his physically challenged son who enjoys competing because it makes him feel he's not handicapped!

Feel free to visit!

When I was young

I'd listen to the radio

Waitin' for my favorite songs

When they played I'd sing along

It made me smile.

Those were such happy times

And not so long ago

How I wondered where they'd gone

But they're back again

Just like a long lost friend

All the songs I loved so well.

Every Sha-la-la-la

Every Wo-o-wo-o

Still shines

Every shing-a-ling-a-ling

That they're startin' to sing's

So fine.

When they get to the part

Where he's breakin' her heart

It can really make me cry

Just like before

It's yesterday once more.

Lookin' back on how it was

In years gone by

And the good times that I had

Makes today seem rather sad

So much has changed.

It was songs of love that

I would sing to then

And I'd memorize each word

Those old melodies

Still sound so good to me

As they melt the years away.

Every Sha-la-la-la

Every Wo-o-wo-o

Still shines

Every shing-a-ling-a-ling

That they're startin' to sing's

So fine.

All my best memories

Come back clearly to me

Some can even make me cry.

Just like before

It's yesterday once more.

Morning Devotion! =)

1 Corinthians 9: 24-27

24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.

25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.

26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air.

27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should bedisqualified.

Just a short sharing!

I do not profess to be a true-blue athelete but I am pretty much into sports, running and table-tennis in particular. These verses reminded me of the days when tough trainings had once been a part of my daily routine.

For others, it might not have been sports, it might well be acadamic studies. In fact, all things we do should be for the glory of God and in the process of doing certain tasks well, it requires a certain level of discipline.

Paul was making a parallel between our Christian walk to that of an endurance race. In verse 25, it was mentioned that atheletes exercise self control in all things. This, I suppose, encompasses an athelete's diet and training schedule.

Besides having a to-do list, there will also be a whole list of things NOT to do. Adhering to a strict regime is of utmost importance to be in optimum condition and acheive peak performance during the actual competitions.

From a book I've read, in the Greek culture, young men had races and played games, hoping to win a prize. To win the race, one had to be willing to work hard and make many sacrifices in order to win the race. At the end of the day, the winners will don on a wreath (crown made of grass and flowers) in celebration of their victory.

Winning the crown was a great honour but this crown was all but a perishable one made of grass and flowers. As Christians, we are challenged to run the Christian race in a disciplined manner.

With these verses, let us all be reminded to strive towards winning a crown which our Lord Jesus will give....

One that is imperishable... and lasts forever... AMEN!
