Event:
Hasn't been bright and sunny these few days! The looming clouds seem to have overtaken the skys and hidden the sunshine. I was planning to go for a run this morning, BUT (excuse), *ahemz*, I woke up late, as usual. After washing up, I accompanied my mother to GIANT (Tampines) to purchase items for this coming Sunday's housewarming. My relatives have all been invited and I'm allowed to bring along some friends too! I invited my first 3 months classmates, Jinglun, Xiangyun, Jocelyn n Marilyn. However, haven't got a reply from Jinglun yet, he must be busy honing his entrepreneurship skills again. I've just returned from GIANT and bought this small fan for my room. I've got a double-decker bed you see and I can't seem to direct my standing fan to the second deck. Therefore, thanks to my mother's bright idea (shoutout: *thanks Mum!*), I got this really small oscillating fan and attached it to my bed's second deck. My sister's boyfriend stays in my room at times so there is no need to worry about who gets the fan now! My uncle will be bringing my mother and I to witness my auntie's baptism at Katong later in the evening. Before that, I think i'll fly over to Compasspoint to get a haircut. After witnessing the baptism, I'll then rush down to Glen's home at Simsville to catch a movie screening! Although the sky has been downcast, it will not stop me from uplifting up spirit with a day filled with fellowship with family and friends! AMEN!

Article/ Book:
I have been spending the last few hours chatting with friends online, reading the newspapers, reading this book I have started on a few weeks ago (Jeffrey Archer's Sons of Fortune) with Class 95 playing in the background, boy am I enjoying my break before the school term starts on 7th May '07. *...all the love in the world* (The Corrs) playing in the background. Anyway, came across this newspaper article on yesterday's paper on a 10-hour hostage stand-off. Apparently it resembled what I just read in my book, purely coincidental. Children held hostage by a day-care centre ownder are carried away from a bus in Manila after they were released unharmed following a 10-hr stand-off stand out in bold on the newspaper front page of Straits Times. Apparently this man had issues he wanted to voice out and had gone a little extreme on the medium he wanted to use to get his point accross to the public and government. Thank God the children were too young to know what situation they were in and the whole event was under controlled with the Senator being involved as well, made a successful attempt at releasing a child who was suffering from fever. Thank God all the children were released unharmed in the end. The story in the book seem to tell this real life incident in complete resemblence. Children were held hostage in their art class by a lonely but intelligent man who's full of ideas, seeking attention and wanting to prove a point and tipped his mental balance using such a extreme approach when he lost his job, his wife left him and took his children. One of the main characters in the book who happens to be a senator was also present at the scene to mitigate the situation. Really makes me ponder if the grenade-wielding hostage taker identified as Amando "Jun" Duncat had read too much Jeffrey Archer, causing it to flick on the creative switch in his grey matter to attempt such a "feat" to draw media attention to get his message accross. Anyways, on with my reading... on the book... hope it doesn't just flick on some creative switches in my grey matter too, even if it does, does not instigate me to start taking hostages.

Thoughts:
Ever since I had come out from conscription, discipline seemed to have came out from me as well. I really need to get a grip of my life and be in control instead of being gripped by life in the neck. Then again, should I? Or should I let God? We can't be in control of our lives because God is. Without God being the focus in our everyday lives, everything we try to keep in control gets out of control. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. With the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, it reminds us that our bodies are temples of God, built in His image. The gifts that we possess, are we using them to glorify Him, or are we just wasting ourselves away, not in the least interested in being good stewards of what we have?!

Keeping Aligned
This is really a blog created to help me keep aligned to God's Word and by God's grace keep me growing spiritually from strength to strength. I will be using this blog as a tool to record day to day thoughts, events, articles, conversations or any other incidents which intrigues me therefore allowing me to reflect about them at the end of the day. With these in mind, I shall officially publish this first post...
